The meaning of butterflies

There are relatively few butterflies that cause significant harm to humans. However, among them there are species, caterpillars, which during the period of mass reproduction can devastate gardens and orchards, deleaf many hectares of forests and cause serious economic damage.

The value of butterflies for the planet

For the most part, butterflies are never particularly numerous, and their larvae feed on wild herbs or trees. Such insects should be recognized as either neutral or even useful to a person.

Basically, the main significance of butterflies in life is that, by transferring pollen from flower to flower on their body, they cross-pollinate plants.

In addition, adult insects, and especially their caterpillar larvae, serve as food for many other animals and are thus an important link in biological chains.

There are examples when butterflies were used to control weed plants. Finally, these magnificent creatures are simply amazingly beautiful, and just for the pleasure of seeing them, they deserve love and protection. Is it possible to imagine nature without butterflies?!
