Turnip Belyanka (turnip)

The White-throated Turnip is a diurnal butterfly of the family Belyankok. Another name is turnip. It looks like cabbage, but smaller (wing length 20-30 mm). The forewings are white, slightly yellowish in females.

Males have one black spot in the middle of the wing, while females have two. Caterpillars are green with a yellow stripe along the back. Unlike cabbage, their body is covered with dark spots. The pupae hibernate.

Turnips begin to fly 1.5-2 weeks earlier than cabbages. The turnip white gives about three generations. The first generation in a number of regions develops exclusively on wild-growing cruciferous plants. Most caterpillars are observed in August.

The butterfly is widespread from Europe to the Far East.
