Butterfly Cocoonworm (Lasiocampidae)

The tentacled moth is a large or medium-sized butterfly with a thick, hairy body from the Lasiocampidae family. They can hardly be considered light, beautiful butterflies that you would run across the lawn and watch them flutter.

Cocoonworms are more like fat moths that rush around this world like fighters.

The front wings of these butterflies are much larger than the hind wings, their proboscis is reduced, i.e. weakened and they do not feed on them. The antennae are comb-like, brush-like, and the males are feathery. There are such types: pine, ringed, Siberian.

The caterpillars have 16 legs and a thick coat of hair, usually live on woody plants, and sometimes gather in "communities". The pupa of the silkworm is in a web cocoon, which is why they are often called silkworms.

Some species of this family can cause irreparable harm to forestry.
